The Fab Five. One Pieces

I’ll confess I don’t wear one pieces that often. I have a long torso. But when I do, I feel uber cool. Even better, put on some shorts or a skirt with one…taa daa, instant cute outfit.

So I perused the amazing singlets out there, and here are 5 fantabulous onesies that make me want to cover my bellybutton all summer. One pieces aren’t just for swim team anymore folks, but if you would wear any of these 5 in a swim meet, you’d look amazing. Even with a swim cap and goggles.

1: Tyler Rose - Just like a Woman.  It’s net, it’s bright, it has a ruffle, it’s double straps can be can be tied as a bandeau or a halter, it’s versatile. IT’S AWESOME.

2: Mikoh - Montauk. The knots. The knots. The Knots!!! I’m obsessed with these knots.

3: Tori Praver- Lucy If you’ve ever worn Tori’s smocked fabric, you know they make you look & feel awesome. The more smockedness, the better. Bonus points for a removable strap.

4: Letarte - Coton candy - The details people. The details. Little shells and turquoise beads between your cleavage, great pattern. Fun colors. Love it.

5: Acacia Marrakesh - Oh emmm geee. How I love theeee. Especially in the Choctaw pattern. Bonus points for being able to wear anywhereability.

…Next week, bikinis under $100. Boo ya!

Long Lost Jewelry. Treasures Found.

They say the key to being happy at what you do is to find something you love, and figure out how to make a living out of it. Well if that’s the case, Phyllis Nelson, Designer of Long Lost Jewelry, took great notes.

After making jewelry for family and friends for years, purely for the love of it (sheesh, nice friend). Phyllis turned her hobby into a collection of hand crafted bracelets, necklaces, earrings and re-crafted vintage finds. We are all benefiting from her decision to start her business. The jewelry makes you instantly go from beach babe to beach-head-turner-whoa-where-did-she-get-that, babe.

Each piece is beautiful, old-meets-new, extremely versatile, unique, handmade in limited quantities, and the vintage pieces are one of a kind.

Some of my favorites are the gold and turquoise Fraternal Twins necklace (Gosh, I love that combo), the perfect for layering Driftwood/Disc/Pearl combo (pictured above), and the simple, yet appropriately named, Dainty Bracelet.

To Phyllis’s family and friends, thank for sharing her skills with the rest of us :)

I heart the retro high-waisted bikini bottoms that popped up this year. Hey Gidget & Annette Funicello surfed in them, so why don’t we? Plus, I think most styles you can fold over if you want a hip-huggin-belly-tanning bottom, so it’s a 2-in-1. I am still on the fence as to if I could actually pull the look off, but you gotta admit, they are pretty cute (still cheeky) and look great with a tank or loose off the shoulder tee.

The Fab Five

This was like naming your favorite child. Not easy. But here is the starting lineup of my absolute favorite ‘kinis for 2011, and where you can buy them, because they are all charge-on-card worthy, unique and heart-palpitation inducing.

1: Mikoh - Maldives & Lanai:  Quite possibly the coolest design of a bikini I’ve ever seen.

2: Acacia - Missy: custom snakeskin print, prefect cheeky bottoms, and long braided ties. I feel more exotic already.

3: Basta Surf - Padang: Ruched, reversible, bright, flattering and insanely comfortable. I could live in this if I owned it.

4. Tori Praver - Maila: A strappy racerback top and low rise fuller coverage boy shorts…all ruched. Really, could it get any cuter?

5. Indah - Thai: Smocked top and bottom, crystal starfish at the ends of the ties, and best of all it is bright NEON YELLOW!
