Another 20 minute buttkicker

Sorry, it’s time for yet another 20 minute workout. I came up with it last week, and actually, I’m not sorry at all. In fact, I kind of love it and couldn’t wait to share. Yes it is a total beeyotch to do, and is a bit of a mind game since there are so many reps. But, you get really sweaty, and feel like super woman afterwards.

So here you go. I’ll refrain from blabbing for once.

Tools: I use a TRX, one powerblock (set to 50 lbs.) and a stopwatch. You can do this without a TRX (So just do regular bodyweight jumps) and use a kettle bell, or a dumbbell at the weight you are comfortable with doing kettlebell swings.

Wait a sec, Tabatawhat? Tabata = A high intensity interval training developed by Japanese scientist Dr. Izumi Tabata and a team of researchers from the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Tokyo. Basically, you push yourself as hard as you can for 20 seconds and rest for 10 seconds. This is one set. Traditionally you do 8 sets total. I did 10. Sorry Dr. Tabata, next workout I’ll stick to the rules.

You are doing these four moves: TRX Squat Jumps, TRX jumping lunges, Kettlebell swings, and full burpies.

Now, here are the combos. It’s four different 5 minute rounds, for a total of 20 minutes of pure tabata. Ooooohhhhhh yeahhhhh buddy.

Ok here you go….

Combo 1:

1 set TRX Squat jumps

1 set TRX jumping lunges

Repeat for five rounds

then move right on to…

Combo 2:

1 set burpies

1 set Kettlebell swings

repeat for five rounds

then move right on to…

Combo 3:

1 set TRX Squat jumps

1 set Kettlebell swings

then move right on to…

Combo 4:

1 set TRX jumping lunges

1 set burpies

then you are…

DONE

Go drink some water, catch your breath, and enjoy dripping in your glorious, salty sweat.

High five. Such a great way to spend 20 minutes of your day. Your body thinks so too.

Gosh I am sounding like Richard Simmons.
