…I guess I could simply say photo dump. But these memories are not worth dumping. I’d like to think they tell a story, perhaps.
Did I get all of my Summer bucket list checked off, nope. I never do. Did life slow down so it could be soaked up more? You bet. Did I have great walks, talks, and laughs with my son, make new friends who are kindred spirits, and the only makeup I wore was waterproof mascara and SPF lip oil? Yup. Was I productive in a work sense? Not at all. But in an inspiration and dig myself out of burnout change of pace…amen and Hallelujah.
It was a stellar summer. I was able to get out of my own way and just let it be. We didn’t try to recreate or redo anything, either. Plus it’s always such a reminder that travel is one of the only things you spend money on that makes you richer. And months tend to fly by when you’re out of a routine and seeing where each day takes you.
The tan is already fading, but the memories will live on for quite a while. Forever perhaps.
Time to plan stuff for next summer. Who am I kidding? I’ll save it until the last minute. (But start saving now so I can actually travel again.)
Pics from a surf trip in Costa Rica with Dkoko, a Family trip to Kauai and Oahu, and day trips in Washington. (This is a fraction of the ones I took. I think my server would crash if I posted all my favorites.)
Leave a comment if you need a link to anything in the pics.
All pics by me, then the surfing and waterfall pics are by Felipe Sanchez – @granoysal. You’re freaking brilliant Felipe.

Wow, these photos are incredible. The essence of summer. I always love coming back to your blog it is a never ending source of inspiration and joy for me! Would you mind telling me which camera you use? I love taking photos and really want to get a proper camera. Also do you have a recommendation for a spf for the face that works under makeup and on it’s own? I feel like I am on a never ending search for a good one. 🌴🌺🌞😁
Thank you so much, Francesca! Love that the blog is still bringing you sunshine! I love how all these pics came together for a bog post!
My favorite travel camera that I used for most of these is the Panasonic Lumix LX100 II – It’s a great little gem of a camera with a fantastic lens!
Then for SPF – I absolutely LOVE Pavise age defense (IT’s pricey but is also my daily face moisturizer, so It’s a 2 in 1) https://pavise.com/products/dynamic-age-defense-spf/dynamic-age-defense as well as Drmtlgy universay tinted daily spf https://www.drmtlgy.com/products/universal-tinted-moisturizer-spf-46
Hope that helps and thanks again!
