A Waterless Hair Day

This post is sponsored by Waterl<ss.

Confession. Most hair posts on here are usually a day or two after getting a cut or color, or I actually took some time to style my mop and make it look good. But this one’s a bit different. See that hair? All I did was wake up, brush it and apply lots of Waterl<ss Dry Shampoo and Dry Conditioner. Promise. I was pretty amazed too.

Here’s a little timeline: 3 days prior was the last time I washed my hair. Ok, maybe more. I lose track. Then, the day before I took these, I worked out, got super sweaty, showered, but kept my hair dry (to save time), sprayed on a bunch of Waterl<ss Dry Shampoo – No Residue, then did some quick flat iron beach waves and sealed the deal with the Waterl<ss Instant Moisture Dry Conditioner – Conditioning Level 2 spray. And a little more dry shampoo, because the more the merrier. Note: My hair looked rather stellar then too, but it looks better here – a day after when all I did was wake up, brush out my mop and apply some more of these two wonder products. Volume, waves, shine with about 30 seconds of effort.

Whoa.

I’ve tried lots of dry shampoos because of the blog, and I’ll have to say this one is different, and in a great way (and not just because this post is sponsored, which is great too): it left no stickiness or residue, I don’t look like I have more grey hairs than I do, the more you mess with your hair the better it smells, and the volume, oh the glorious volume.

Hold on. Going to go spray on some dry conditioner…because it’s rather enjoyable to have shiny hair that’s not greasy.

So, my verdict is two thumbs up, but…the story behind it is what sealed the deal.

Waterl<ss first launched in Cape Town, South Africa back in January 2018, when the city had just a weee bit of a crisis on their hands: it was 3 months away from a city of 4 million people running out of water. That’ll put things into perspective quickly when it comes to water use and shower time. I don’t know about you, but when it comes to having water to drink or water to wash my hair and sing Stevie Wonder songs to, hydration always wins. So, Waterl<ss did a test launch in Cape Town to help people of all different hair types go longer between wash days. It gave people an option when they had no choice but to not wash their hair and ended up with a wide range of products to get clean, conditioned and fantastic smelling hair without using a single drop of H2O.

Well, the test launch went well, and thankfully Cape Town never reached “Day Zero.” Now, in 2020 you can find it in-stores at Target and a few other smart stores that scooped up their water saving brilliance once it launched internationally.

Oh yeah, you will also find it on my air-dried, sweaty, day-old flat iron beach waved locks, quite regularly.

Feels good to have a freakishly good zero effort mop moment. Feels REALLY good to save some water. It always feels grrrrreat to save time, and yeah, it just feels good to spread some love for stuff like this.

Thank you so much Waterl<ess for sponsoring this post, for helping us all be more mindful of saving water and for supporting Goldfish Kiss. Ok, the good hair days have been great too.

*If anyone’s wondering, I used the Waterl<ss No Residue Dry shampoo (For fine or oily hair) and Waterl<ss Dry Conditioner Instant Moisture (Moisture level 2).
