Yay Art.
I stumbled (OK, scrolled) on the most gorgeous video compilation of photos taken in all kinds of different artists’ studios. Think: photos with sketches taped on the walls, canvases stacked along the floorboards, messy palettes filled with ochres and muddled up hues, walls papered with quick paintings, or old ones. Paint blobs and squished-up almost empty tubes. And messy desks. so many messy desks.
I wish I would’ve saved it. I just spent the last twenty minutes trying to find it.
The whole point was typed over all these images: An Artist’s Studio Is Like a Museum.
And it truly is.
You can learn so much about someone’s art, or pretty much take a history lesson about them, just by sitting at their desk, flipping through sketchbooks, admiring the mess, and seeing the process. …without them even being there. In short, they are kick ass spaces.
Hopefully one day I’ll have a full studio (or just a room with lots of windows and natural light) that does just that. But in the meantime here’s the latest from my messy desk.
And I threw in a pic of me there, too. Just for kicks.

Explanations of the pics/pieces:
Stumbled on a pic of Jimi Hendrix with a flower behind his ear (I did some research and it was taken in Hawaii) So I was immediately inspired to try and paint it. I’m thinking I need to do more big portraits like this.
The I Love You sign is a big one in our family. That’s my hand. and I drew it facing me so technically this is backward. But hey, you still get the point.
A painting I did for the winner of my contest back in December/the Holiday rush. She sent me a video her husband took of her when she opened it in person and it brought me to tears. In a good way.
Trying to get back into sketching regularly. Emphasis on the word trying. When I get a chance to paint these days I just want to go for it and skit the sketching. Bad habit yes, but we all have them.
A pic I’d saved for a while to try and paint. (It was in black and white, and I had to bring it into full amped-up color.
..now, time to create some more.
