One morning a week, I break the routine, pack up my squad, and drive about 35 minutes to the nearest beach…for an hour long beach walk. To say that this morning is invigorating, is an understatement.
My mind, body and soul feel refreshed. The rugged coastline is gorgeous (rain, wind, fog or shine…it kind of reminds me a little bit of the Oregon coast, which is my favorite coast in the continental US). My pup, Kili, gets to be off leash on a virtually empty beach, gets to say hi to other beach pups, and is exhausted afterwards. Levi soaks up all the sights, freshness, and, of course, sand. And well, I guess since I am walking in the sand for a hour with him on my back, it counts as a workout as well.
Score. On so many levels.
I’ll stop there. It’s just turned into a weekly ritual that does take a lot of effort to get out and do. But is always so worth it. That quiet, man I feel small and humble, not a lot of people in sight, sand between my toes, babbling baby on my back, and overjoyed pup in her element – time, is priceless.
So I just thought I’d share some pics from some of our outings. It’s nothing fancy or styled. Just life. Uncrowded, sandy, salty, with a very happy pup and sand eating baby, life.
…and I cant wait to go back again next week.
Photos. Top to bottom:
Kili on her birthday, off to say hi to her long lost best friend // Used the phone to check if Levi had passed out. He did. // Kili Photobombing my “gorgeous day laying in the sand” pic. Which actually made it much cooler. // Group shot. Nailed it. // Feeling small and humble when a swell takes up half the beach // Always getting my toes in. Yes it’s always freezing.
