Current mood and color inspiration: It’s all about zero expectations, embracing what you have, letting colors deepen and smolder, always having something in bloom, and soaking up different shades of light and temps.
If I see one more post or quote about how many days are left in this year, I might have to throw my laptop out the window. Or phone. That’s easier to replace, and something I’ve contemplated doing oh so many times. Years are ongoing and fluid, and I can’t stand countdowns and expectations within them. Especially when it seems like everyone talking about them is some sort of expert trying to sell me a self-help course. I want to relish this time of year as much as possible, the extra golden sunsets, excuses to curl up and read a book, random heat wave days when the world feels like its soaked up all the warm hues of the color wheel, trying new recipes, multiple movie nights a week, and of course, sweatpants and Fall layers topped off with something adorned in fringe.
Soak it up, let it smolder. Wear the warm burnt hues, top ’em off with some deep blues, fill up that journal with big scribbled words in French (or whatever your love language is). Enjoy the days where an iced coffee is still needed in the afternoon sun, and breathe in the hot camomile before bed. Let the rain that’s chillier give you a need to look up to the sky and take a deep breath. And still enjoy wearing jeans with holes in the knees for some airflow.
Less eye makeup, for more bold lips and bronzer. Sunset sessions followed by being wrapped up in your favorite blanket. Plaid, cashmere, and still going barefoot when possible. The water is crisp and clear, and the air is filled with beach bonfires and the possibilities of needing to sleep in the next morning.
It’s a romantic time of year, and different for everyone in some way. It’s inspiring and fleeting, but gosh, I sure love sitting with it too.
So let’s raise a glass of whatever beverage soothes your soul to this time of year: Zero expectations, and simply enjoying the gorgeous feast of calm and gratitude it serves up…especially when we don’t worry about any countdowns or craziness.
Moodbaord made over on shuffles. Love that thing.
