I have so many thoughts and ideas about painting and art in general right now. Which usually means it’s time for me to get out of my head and just paint. Yeah, I’ve been traveling and I always bring my sketchbook, but I didn’t fill up a single page. It happens. I did manage to take a ton of photos which will be future paintings. So that’s at least a step in the right direction.
And I’m pretty pumped about a few ideas.
My new paints arrived yesterday, along with a fresh block of BIG watercolor paper, and this cool gold powder I can add to my watercolors to make some shimmer. So I feel the motivation and brain butterflies beginning. It’s about time. Breaks are good. Yes. But they feel weird.
Enough blabbing, here are a few new paintings.
A big floral, with some detail pics (because one digital pic of these doesn’t do it justice, and I mean these suckers take 20+ hours to do) Same goes for the big scenic waikiki sunset piece. I didn’t even upload a pic of the entire painting, because it just doesn’t do it justice on a screen. But I like the cropped detail pics. What else? Goofing around with post-surf nap sun spots, and one of my favorite subjects, a close-up of mouths with shells.
Yeah, I know I should cut back on the neon paint. But then again, why? Neon should be a part of the color wheel sometimes.
I wish I could just rent out an airy & bright space to have a big show someday because these all look so much better in person. Time to start reaching out to galleries, perhaps? Which means time to kick my debilitating (at times) inner critic to the curb. Whoooosaaaaahhhhh.
Anywho, I hope you enjoy the paintings/their colors/vibe and the cropped/zoomed-in pics give you a glimpse of how much fun I have creating them. That is…once I finally make that first brush stroke.
