It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Avocado season. My landlord gives us grocery bags full of football sized avocados from his sister’s tree in Kaneohe. These suckers are huge and I literally love them so much, I eat them with a spoon.
Yeah they have a bad rep for having a lot of calories, but, I though I’d shed some light on why those calories are well worth it:
Show your bod some love, eat an avocado:
Oral Cancer Defense – Because we all want our gums when we are 40.
Breast Cancer Protection – High in oleic acid. Ole!
Eye Health -Avocados have more of the carotenoid lutein than any other commonly consumed fruit. Sayonara Cataracts.
Lowers Cholesterol – As long as you don’t always eat it on a bacon cheeseburger
Heart Health – 1 cup of avocado has 23% of the recommended daily value of folate. Fo-shizzle.
Stroke Prevention – Eat and avocado = a stroke of genius.
Glutathione Source – Avocados are an excellent source of glutathione, an antioxidant that helps prevent aging (YES PLEASE) This one is reason enough for me.
Vitamin E Powerhouse – Avocados are the best fruit source of vitamin E. Feel free to mash one up and smear on skin for this very reason.
