Soul Snuggles

Peaceful, simple moments feel like a snuggle for the soul when life feels so noisy. Those small glimmers of joy woven into ordinary days. It’s what I stumble on, am on the lookout for, and I admittedly try to form habits to make them more possible, too. Definitely recommend it.

When the lighting is juicy, get outside, and when the weather is dishing up something that’s going to ignite some inspiration, rain or shine, get out there. When you stumble on the ultimate thrift score, score that touchdown, baby. Slow down and look for shells, flowers, signs of life, reasons to sing and dance, or moments that make you take a deep breath and smile.

And it’s 110% ok to take a pic of it to help remember them all, too. In fact, they tend to be the sweetest pics, even if you don’t realize it yet.

Especially if they are mental ones.

Surfing in the rain, or in the case of last weekend, a torrential downpour that made everyone in the lineup laugh and think, “yup, we’re crazy for being out here but just love this stuff so darn much.” Sitting in a sun spot cuddling with my dog and having a deep conversation that didn’t involve words. A beer and chips picnic date with my husband. Driving with my son and listening to some good tunes with the windows down and heated seats on. Waking up and feeling like you need water instead of coffee right away. A book that makes you see the world differently. Hell, finding a perfect lipstick shade that somehow makes your sunspots look less dramatic is pretty darn spectacular too.

I could go on and on, and it feels cathartic to write down these things to remember that count as daily wins. (Note to self: time to crack open that journal.)

It’s great to dream big, but life also feels sublime when you realize small smiles punctuate your days, too.

Here are a few of them. Wish I had my waterproof camera with me for that torrential downpour surf session.

La vie est belle.
