If you ever find yourself near Navarre Beach, Florida, I highly suggest paying the $1 fee to take a walk on the fishing pier. If you happen to be there on a calm, sunny, green-flag day, consider yourself blessed. The views are one part zen, one part jaw-dropping.

I got lucky last week, and also happened to bring my camera. Then went back the next day. Yellow flags, but still pretty darn breathtaking.
It’s the longest fishing pier in the Gulf, and I do enjoy surfing by it when there are waves, too. I am not one of the balls-y surfers who go right near the pier, though. The folks that are there to fish ain’t messing around, and I’ve seen them fish for a surfer or two.
Anywho, it’s great people, storm clouds, Fred the Heron, rays, and schools of fish watching. I’ve been mesmerized by a bait ball or two, and my son and I recently saw some dolphins on a clear day. Lub dub.
Tip: If you see a turtle, just whisper it to someone nearby, or don’t even say anything, or else you will be swarmed.
It’s a sweet walk with therapeutic blues, and these pics are the closest I’ll get to having some rad drone shots. Enjoy.
More info about the pier, here. And your $1 ticket is good for the whole day, so it’s a great place for a sunset walk, too.
Same for the beach, and that’s pretty fantastic, any time, or condition, too.
