“Fronds Clandestino” 18×24
“Pukas for Perri” 8×10
“Sugar Sand Kiss” 8×10
“Rainy Walk” 8×10
“Summer at the Pier” 18×24
Well, these all turned out nothing like I originally thought they would, but that’s pretty much is the scenario once a painting gets going. Gotta love it.
Art is so weird – I simply adore creating it, but everything else makes me contemplate throwing away all my brushes at least once a week. The whole marketing your stuff (which is like pulling teeth for me), constant rejection ( I ignore it, but it still hurts. Can shows/publications not send rejection emails? We all know what a silent no is, and prefer it to the passive aggressive rejection emails that ALL sound the same) algorithms and the web hiding your stuff (so after battling with self doubt to even share a piece, then…crickets.) and being bombarded with people posting their wins, new gigs, six figure incomes and projects daily. All on top of being my own harshest critic. It’s an add relationship. Very odd.
But, I just LOVE painting. Like, absolutely LOOOOOVE it. Even if my stiff doesn’t appeak to the fine art crowd or any crowd, or even most people I interact with on a daily basis. I can’t imagine not having it be a part of my life. I’ll keep on doing it, and in the back of my mind am reminding myself that it matters, and you never know who it might impact positively.
Ok enough with my art making/marketing/frustration. Hope you like the new paintings. They are even cooler in person. Especially the neon paint and new shimmer paints. It’s a blast to play with new tools *& materials, but the same sunny subjects.
Cheers to ignoring all the materialistic and self doubt BS, and just…paint.
And know anytime anyone leaves a comment or makes any purchase in my shop, my heart smiles and breathes a sigh of relief. (this isn’t guilting anyone to buying anything – just a reminder of how much any ounce of support is oh so appreciated)
Now, off to dream up the next pieces.
Just kidding I’m working on a coloring book and need to draw out another page. This sucker’s looking sweet so far.
…Then will start thinking of new stuff to paint.

Hi there!,
I’m up late in Southern California perusing your blog😊. I LOVE your art and every single post!! I ordered your calendar this year and your book of poems when you first published it. Two of my favorites! Your coloring book is so cool and congratulations on it going to the top of the charts!
Your personal style is so beautiful and I get inspiration from you all the time. By the way, I don’t know how you paint your toes lol, but very impressive!
Just know I’m a big fan and I appreciate everything you create, photograph and paint🧡
Big hugs to you! xo Julie
Julie!! Thank you so much for this, and apologies for JUST now writing back! I’m so glad you were up late checking out the blog, and I can’t thank you enough for your support and words of (much-needed) encouragement! I’m almost out of the twilight zone of our big move, doing my best to get back to posting/painting/creating here sometime soon!
The surf board painting is amazing! I love all your work but it is on another level. Keep paiting :).
Thank you so much! So pumped you like the piece with the boards! Tried some new stuff and I think it’s working out! Yay art 🙂
