New paintings. New 2025 calendar. Yay art.

I’m slowly learning not to freak out if I fail to bust out a new piece every week. But then, it also feels rather odd when I’m not actively working on a painting or two. But then I sit down to write a messy desk update post like this and realize even with all the mental mind games I put myself through, I’ve done some cool paintings.

…and in the midst of it all, I got my 2025 Calendar up in the shop.

Paint update: I realized it was time for a new watercolor palette (it’s been 4.5 years), and the LUKAS ones I picked up are exceeding my expectations on every level. Vivid, concentrated, pigment blends easily but also makes for a great paint splatter or layer. They’re also kind of soft, which is a plus. I should’ve gotten the largest set. Next time.

Everything pictured above is in the shop. Well, except for the Macaw piece. The drive into downtown Seattle is only like 20 minutes for me, but I like to bring multiple paintings in when I drop them off at my local printer here to be scanned ( The Color Group does such a fantastic job). I have one more big painting to finish; then those beauties will be scanned/in the shop. I highly recommend having a fine art printer scan larger watercolors. It’s worth every penny and the results are SO much better than my feeble photography attempts.

Now, back to the calendars. I really don’t have much more to add that isn’t in the product description. But My mom already got hers and she said it’s her favorite one yet. It might be mine, too. I love designing this each year, and whenever I get a notification someone placed an order I do a little happy dance and smile.

New paintings, new ones in the works, a calendar for 2025, and just a hefty dose of motivation to keep on creating.

All it takes is that first brush stroke.

Off to make one…
