Salty Days

This past month had quite a few beach outings that were pure, salty…magic. However, I’ve also learned you can’t predict these types of days whatsoever. You just make the effort to go to the beach, get in the water, and some days you reap one helluvan eye candy haul because of it.

Aka, when I walk across the walkway and see the ocean for the first time (it’s always hidden by the dunes so you kind of don’t know what you’re getting until you go)…I end up saying a prayer of gratitude, picking up my jaw that dropped onto the sand, and smiling from the inside out.

This doesn’t happen every day, but when it does, I call these salty days. Not just because the water was amazing, but because it’s moments in days like these that tend to somehow bring out the flavor of the rest of the time.

If that makes sense.

You know, it’s not all butterflies, perfect beach days and rainbows, but when it is, it kind of imbues the rest of the day or week with its mental sunshine.

Which I’m a big fan of.

I also have been keeping my little handheld waterproof cam in my mompack at all times (A Fujifilm XP90 – I bought a refurbished one on ebay for $60 a while ago) so I can fulfill my itch to capture some of these moments, but still be able to soak them up too. I leave it in the sand, I tuck it in my bikini top, Levi even takes pics with it (he’s a good little photographer). Gosh, I do love this little cam.

So here’s a few of those pics.

I can kind of taste the saltiness just looking at them too. Yum.

Who knows what summer will be like here, but I’m hoping for another handful… or two…or three… of days like these.
