There is so much joy in feeling small. Thank you nature for dishing up that bliss time and time again.
Now, time to get my butt in gear to get up and out and soak it up.
It’s been a rough start to the year. I’ll make sure to spare you the details, but there’s been lots of trying to make sense of things, anger, and doing my best to not let an ounce of bitterness sneak its way in. It happens. Sometimes on a large scale, sometimes with small things. But that’s life, especially midlife too.
Sidenote: I read somewhere that when you’re in your 40’s, if you’re lucky you have 30 years left. I can’t stand having life framed like that, because so much can happen in a day, a week, or even a few months into a year, let alone a few decades. But damn, I want two more halves to go. Life’s been one helluva beautiful journey and I don’t want this latest bump in the road to make the journey grow stale.
So sometimes, I just look at pictures like these and give myself a pat on the back. Along with a kick in the butt to keep the adventures, feeling small when surrounded by fresh air ,and submerging myself in scenes that open up my mind coming.
Yes watching the sunset on a catamaram in French Polynesia (after a day for the books) was magical, same with standing at the foot of a waterfall in Mt. Rainier national park. But there’s also so many deep breath, life is beautiful scenarios on a daily basis: my daily dog walks, runs in the rain, or listening to the birds first thing in the morning. I love when life has a balanced ratio of both.
I am just so darn appreciative of nature at all times. For so many reasons. It injects joy in my soul and puts things in perspective in a way no human can.
I could elaborate and write an entire article, but this poem from my book sums it up:

Now, time to go for that run in the rain.
Then keep looking through travel pics that give my soul permagrin.

Life can be so hard at times. Thank you for sharing the beauty you capture in your photos and art and writing. It is wonderful to have someone to turn to for inspiration to look at the small things and appreciate it all.
Thank you so much for this, Madeline! When a comment like yours pops up, it encourages me to keep posting and sharing, especially the small things. Sending a big hug of gratitude!
I found your bling randomly while googling the meaning of this expression when playing Connections on the NYT app. It was a great discovery!
Wahoooo! So glad you found the blog, and thank you! Cheers to Connections and the NYT app!
