Makeup. So may choices, so many colors, so many different items. It’s quite overwhelming actually. When I did a survey of my makeup drawer, I realized there are 5 items that are my go to, “I gotta look good in 5 minutes or less” routine…which is pretty much always my routine, because I am always running late, and am married to a man who thinks taking 20 minutes to get ready is a really really long time.
Anywho, enough about me, let’s talk about the fab 5 items that I have (and love), and therefore am convinced I could throw out the rest.
1: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer: I’ve been using the oil free version (in almond) since it came out. We’re going on almost an 8 year relationship now. It’s worth every penny, and I firmly believe it is the best tinted moisturizer known to mankind.
2: Urban Decay Naked2 Palette: My sister gave me this for Christmas last year, and I have not used any eyeshadow outside of this palette since. It’s got all you need: neutrals, shimmers, and a dark one for those saucy times that call for a smokey eye. Thanks again Hannah.
3: Nars The Multiple in Orgasm: Nars nailed it. There is just something about this shade that makes you shimmer just enough and glow. I also love using it as eye shadow or a lip shimmer (hence the word multiple). And the name paves the road for endless joke opportunities when asking for it in a store.
4: Benefit They’re Real Mascara: I gave it praise earlier on this summer…it still the mascara that captured my heart and had me at first swipe.
5: Nars Velvet Matte Lipstick Pencil in Sex Machine: It’s the Bridget Bardot meets Angelina Jolie flirty pinky neutral shade of long wearing matte color. Not too light not too dark, but a little bright. (Man it’s hard to talk about makeup colors). I am due for a new one because mine is so short, I can’t sharpen it any more.
So there you have it! If I could narrow down my makeup to just five items…there you go.
But, from the looks of things lately, I might need to add some bronzer, and under eye concealer (thank you house training a puppy who waked up every 3 hours during the night) to the lineup soon.
