RX Bikini Bod: Quick Tabata workout

Tabata = doing an exercise at 100% effort as fast as you can for 20 seconds, then resting for 10seconds and repeating seven more times without any break. If you had a weekend like me where you diet consisted of tortilla chips, sour cream, and beer, this is a great way to bust off some of that allocated jiggle.

This workout, courtesy of Nick Tumminello at Performance U, is pretty sweet. I like to go down to the beach, (so it’s harder) and I have pretty scenery to look at to keep my mind off how hard my heart is pumping.

20 sec Speed Squats
10 sec rest
20 sec Burpees
10 sec rest
20 sec Mountain Climbers (keep neutral spine)
10 sec rest
20 sec Speed Skips (in place) (lift knee above hip)

That’s one round…do as many as you need. It’s great to do a round after you finish lifting, to get out and move for a few minutes, or do a ton of rounds in a row, if you ate a Costco size bag of tortilla chips in 48 hours.
